The 19th February 2017 was the 48th running of the South East Region’s Annual General Meeting – boring?  Well, no it was not! We had some serious stuff to consider, that’s for sure but we do not let that make our meetings too heavy. Indeed, it would be difficult for members of the SE region to forget that it is ‘only a car club’ and we participate to have fun. This we did and it can be characterised by Guy Talbot’s jibe at Harry Waddingham! Guy was wearing his BDC blazer and anyone who has had their eyes assaulted by one of these items of apparel will understand that as soon as Harry sees Guy he orders two Ice creams. Guy relayed this to the audience walked over to Harry and from nowhere, presented Harry with an ice cream! I should point out that Guy is an accomplished magician and a member of the Magic Circle.

We post the minutes of our Annual General Meetings and you will find them in the ‘News’ section of www.bdcsoutheast.org.uk. These minutes will clarify the points made and our views.

The meeting was followed by luncheon in The Garden Room of the Copthorne Hotel.

Mr and Mrs Chapman park close to the Main Entrance though Mr and Mrs Needham have treckked in from the outer reaches

It pays to turn up at this date in a Bentley as the staff give us preferential and extremely handy parking. We have never asked for it but we are carefully arranged adjacent to the main door! The Copthorne is a typical Gatwick Airport Hotel with a car park about the size of the Serengeti and you can be parked miles away! Apparently the staff think that a good number of Bentley motor cars parked right by the Entrance gives the place bags of kudos.
